Rooms
There are just 18 huts, each private and detached with spacious decks, some with great views of the surrounding landscape and ocean, some more cosy with plenty of privacy. All have plunge pools, outdoor showers, and bathtubs.
Location
Uga Chena Huts is nestled in southern Sri Lanka between Yala National Park and the wildlife-rich Indian Ocean coastline. Located right on the beach, you can enjoy sundowners while looking over the waves. Please be aware that while staff can set up loungers for you on the beach, the area is not suitable for swimming.
Food and drink
Wine and dine in the nautical Basses restaurant, followed by post-dinner drinks at the beach bar. The hotel offers a fresh, à la carte menu with changing options during your stay. If you wish to dine privately, this can be arranged on the beach or in your hut.
Environmental and social responsibility
Uga Chena Huts is plastic-free, it has nearly 100 solar panels and uses low energy lighting throughout. Ingredients used are either grown in the property’s organic garden or locally sourced from nearby farmers. Wastewater recycling is done on site to reduce usage. It’s proud that 85% of its staff are local and they support multiple community projects including a local home for elders.
