Situated in the village of Sukau on Borneo's famous Kinabatangan River lies the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. The lodge can be reached by boat or by road and although there are 12 other lodges in the neighboring area around Sukau village, staying here gives you the most comprehensive wildlife experience in the area.
The lodge has 33 stilted chalets, each containing either two or three separate en suite rooms which are simply furnished but clean and comfortable. All rooms have en suite shower rooms with hot water and ceiling fans. The lodge has an air-conditioned TV room showing documentaries about Sabah's wildlife and a restaurant/bar area (wine RM100 per bottle, beers RM12 per can).
The restaurant serves buffet meals, so please do advise us in advance if you have any specific dietary requirements. As well as the main dining area there are a couple of small, raised areas with tables and chairs where you can relax outside and enjoy the great views of the river. In addition to the bird tower on the riverfront, there is also a hilly walking trail behind the lodge that takes around 30 minutes to walk and may give you the chance to see some more wildlife.
The lodge is run by local power supply but there are occasions when this (and the lodge's own back-up generator) can fail but it is a rare occurrence and is all part of staying in the jungle!
