Farewell Harbour Lodge

Farewell Harbour Lodge

Vancouver Island, Canada

Set right on the waterfront on the edge of the Great Bear Rainforest and Broughton Archipelago Marine Park, Farewell Harbour Lodge provides a relaxing stay in pristine wilderness. While here, you can join boat trips out on the water in search of marine life, including orca and humpback whales, as well as all-day bear-watching experiences in the forest with expert naturalist guides.

Featuring a warm communal lounge, bar, and dining room, the lodge’s main building boasts a large brick fireplace flanked by windows and a wrap-around deck. With its south- and west-facing outlooks, the lodge gives you a chance to enjoy some remarkable sunset views. The expansive decks continue as a boardwalk along the shoreline, leading to eight private oceanside suites, each made from local materials including natural cedar and featuring an en suite bathroom, a gas stove and two double beds. A ramp leads off the main lodge to a floating building below that contains four additional suites, each also with a private bathroom, two double beds and a gas stove. This building was originally located at nearby Bones Bay and has been refurbished while still retaining its original character.

OUR OPINION:

We love the remote, wild location of this laid-back lodge, which allows you to fully switch off and immerse yourself in nature. The owners are welcoming and the guides are eager to share their knowledge of the area's wildlife and ecology.

Leading from the main lodge a further four private waterfront suites occupy a floating lodge below. Each of the 12 rooms has two double beds, a gas stove, and an en suite bathroom. All rooms are simple, without TV or phones, so you can unwind and immerse yourself in the nature that surrounds you.
