Itinerary idea in detail

Private customized tour. Ask us about booking your international flights at our preferred rates.

  • On arrival in Winnipeg, you will be met by your guide at the airport and taken to your hotel. You may be with other passengers on your trip if they are arriving a day early as well. You have free time to settle into your hotel, located just one block from Union Station, and for dinner in one of the city’s many fine restaurants.

  • After an included breakfast at the hotel, meet your group's guide to explore Winnipeg. The tour begins with a visit to Fort Whyte Alive, a nature reserve just outside the city where you can enjoy a close-up encounter with bison and a tour through the wetlands. In the afternoon, the tour turns to the acclaimed Manitoba Museum for a glimpse into the natural and human heritage of the province. This evening, you have an included group dinner with your fellow passengers and expedition leader, and the chance to pick up your parka jacket and boots for time on the tundra.

  • After breakfast, your group is taken to the airport to board your charter flight north to Churchill, an original Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post. Upon arrival, the group takes a brief tour of the town with some bear safety procedures included. In the evening, it’s time for your first trip onto the tundra in the ‘Polar Rover’ for your first glimpse of the bears. Hopefully, the Northern Lights will be dancing above you as well. You have all meals included during your stay in Churchill.

  • You have another day exploring the wilderness of the tundra. The rovers accommodate 30 passengers, but your group will be no more than 16, so that you have room to move and enjoy the view from the windows. Your expedition leader knows the best place to look for polar bears as they congregate each fall, waiting for Hudson Bay to freeze and can tell you all about their behaviors and lives.

  • Another day on the tundra awaits. Listen to your guide explain how these magnificent creatures thrive in such harsh environments while watching them interact. The bears are curious animals and often come to inspect the tundra vehicles, providing truly special moments amid nature. You may also see mothers with cubs or young males fighting. This evening, you have your final dinner in Churchill with the group.

  • For your last morning in Churchill, enjoy an introduction to dog sledding through the boreal wilderness, learning about the dogs and the dog sledding tradition from an expert musher. You also have the opportunity to explore the little town of Churchill or take an optional helicopter trip over the tundra before boarding your flight back to Winnipeg. This evening, your group has a final reception and dinner to reminisce on your experience.

  • After an included breakfast, you will be taken by your tour company to the airport for your onward flight.
