Arenal Volcano

Arenal Volcano Hike

Before Arenal's active period in 1968, a lavish canopy of vegetation once covered the cone of the volcano. Today, the green area is located at the east side of the mountain, and other pockets of verdant jungle can be seen on the north and the south of the volcano.

This easy and manageable hike will allow you to enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano as you walk along the base of this marvelous 'Mountain of Fire'. The hike begins on one the trails close to the volcano, which will take you through the forest over recent lava flows and the area destroyed in 1968, which is now in the process of regeneration.

The trek takes about two and a half hours and the whole tour approximately four hours.
