Qamea Resort and Spa is an intimate boutique resort situated in an expanse of tropical forest that gives onto a white-sand beach. Its 17 bures and villas each look out onto the beach, while behind them lies the densely forested interior of Taveuni Island. Each bure and villa are built in a traditional Fijian style with tall ceilings, dark hardwood floors, large covered verandas, and open-air garden showers.
The resort sits near some of the best dive sites in Fiji, and you can explore their reefs by boat or even directly from the resort’s shoreline. You can also take part in many other activities as part of your stay, including sailing, windsurfing, sea canoeing, hiking, and croquet.
If you’re looking for a resort that exudes barefoot luxury, this is the place. Plus, in addition to its warm, attentive hosts, we’ve chosen Qamea because it enjoys some of the best sunsets in Fiji.

Rooms
The property has beachfront and honeymoon bures along with a ‘Royal Beach House’. Traditional Fijian design elements such as high ceilings, dark hardwood floors, and open-air showers are incorporated into each of the bures.
The beachfront and honeymoon bures have king-size beds, air conditioning, covered verandas and private hammocks. In keeping with the relaxing atmosphere the resort aims to foster, rooms don’t have TVs, phones or Wi-Fi.
The Royal Beach House is a bure with a Jacuzzi spa, a private plunge pool, a TV, air conditioning, and an iPod docking station.
Location
The resort is found in the northeastern part of Fiji on a small, isolated island called Qamea, which overlooks Taveuni Island. There’s a white-sand beach at the front of the property and lush tropical rainforest surrounding it. From the resort, you can head out on nature walks through the rainforest and the island’s Bouma National Heritage Park.
Food and drink
The property’s restaurant, Bure Kalau, offers fresh local seafood and Fijian cuisine. The food served at the resort is mostly caught nearby or grown on the property, and Qamea can cater to a variety of dietary requirements. The dining room sits on a large covered patio with views of the sandy beach and ocean.
We especially recommend trying the mud crab.
Families
This is an adults-only resort.
Facilities and activities
A variety of water sports and land-based activities are included in your stay. You can choose from snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, giant chess, croquet, and volleyball. From the resort, you can also explore several nature trails leading to waterfalls and natural rock pools.
The resort offers some activities for which you’ll need to pay extra: diving, yoga, and surfing.
