Arriving at Chania Airport, you’ll be met by your driver and taken to your hotel in Chania. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the beach or around your hotel pool, or you can head out to explore the local area.

Meet with your private guide this morning to explore the streets of Chania’s old town, learning about its history through the ages with a focus on the Byzantine and Venetian periods.

Head outside of Chania to a traditional village to experience a cooking class in an olive mill that dates back to the 18th century. You will learn how to recreate some Cretan dishes using the freshest ingredients finished with herbs collected from the mountains before sitting down for a hearty lunch.

This morning make your own way to the rental car office in Chania, pick up your car and begin your journey to the eastern side of the island. Around half way stop at the Minoan site of Knossos to meet your guide and have a private tour of the archaeological site before continuing on to Agios Nikolaos.

Take a shared boat out to the island of Spinalonga, which hosted one of the last leper colonies in Europe. It was also once home to a 16th-century Venetian fort, whose remains you can still see. You’ll have a guided tour of the island before returning to Agios Nikolaos.

Spend your last day in Agios Nikolaos at leisure, perhaps relaxing and enjoying your hotel’s amenities or exploring Agios Nikolaos. If you feel like exploring, visit the nearby village of Elounda, where you can enjoy the beach.

Drive to Heraklion’s airport, where you’ll drop off your rental car and catch your onward flight.
