Behind the wooden façade that blends into the landscape, there are 48 welcoming rooms, all of which have soothing neutral hues, sleek Nordic furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and paintings by Icelandic artist and sculptor, Páll Guðmundsson. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, comfortable beds with separate duvets, and en suite bathrooms.

The hotel also offers a light-flooded restaurant for traditional Icelandic cuisine and panoramic views, a relaxed lounge bar for wines, craft beers, and cocktails, and a bistro for casual fare. Elsewhere, you’ll find two geothermal pools, two hot tubs, outdoor activities such as hiking, eco-walking and golf, and a wake-up call service in the winter when the northern lights are visible. The helpful staff will also advise on the nearby natural landscapes to explore, including the nearby Víðgelmir and ³¢²¹²Ô²µÂáö°ì³Ü±ô±ô — Iceland’s largest lava cave and Europe's third largest glacier respectively.

We love the remote countryside setting of this peaceful boutique hotel in the tiny village of Húsafell. The seasonal menu that pulls focus on sophisticated Icelandic cuisine with fresh ingredients is a real highlight.

Rooms

The 48 rooms are spacious and modern, with all featuring soothing natural hues, stylish Nordic furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and paintings by Icelandic artist and sculptor, Páll Guðmundsson. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, telephones, mini fridges, and comfortable beds with separate duvets. En suite bathrooms have showers and/or bathtubs as well as complimentary toiletries.

Location

Surrounded by unspoiled countryside, you’ll be staying in the tiny and remote village of Húsafell. You’ll also be within driving distance of some of west Iceland’s most famous natural attractions, including Víðgelmir and Langjökull, Iceland’s largest lava cave and Europe's third largest glacier respectively. The Krauma Baths, Iceland's newest geothermal bathing resort, are just a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

Food and drink

The restaurant is a contemporary space with large windows offering panoramic views across the mountainous landscape. Start the morning with hot and cold buffet breakfast options and return later in the day to enjoy traditional Icelandic cuisine for lunch and dinner. There is also a lounge bar for craft beers and cocktails as well as a bistro for casual fare.

Families

For families who love to spend time outdoors, Hótel Húsafell has a geothermal pool with a waterslide and a small playground area. The restaurant also offers a children’s menu that includes sandwiches, burgers, French fries, and mashed potatoes.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has two geothermal pools, two hot tubs, and a waterslide. Swimsuits and towels are available to rent. Entrance to the pools is complimentary for all guests. Please note that there is no lifeguard, so swimming is at your own risk. Also exercise caution when using the pools with children as the water can feel extremely warm.
