Granville Hotel

Waterford, Ireland

The birthplace of Thomas Francis Meagher, designer of the Irish flag, the Granville Hotel has played an important role in Waterford’s social and political history for centuries. In keeping with its rich history, this 18th-century townhouse is classically decorated and has a warm ambience due to the friendly and attentive service.

The atmospheric bar, which features dark wood, stained-glass windows and bookcases laden with leather-bound books, is very popular with local people at all times of the day and is the place to sample the hotel’s handcrafted gin.

The hotel is family run and the owners’ dedication to the utmost service is also evident in their culinary offerings. All of the hotel’s award-winning jams, marmalades, scones and breads are produced on site and dishes on the modern Irish menu consist of only locally-sourced produce, with herbs grown on the rooftop garden.

The old world charm of this family-run hotel carries through to the spacious guest rooms which are all individually decorated with traditional furnishings. While the decor is old fashioned, the amenities and services are not. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service is available.

OUR OPINION:
