Rooms
The rooms lead right out onto the infinity pool area and have views across Round Hill Bay, perfectly angled for sunset. Inspired by the whitewashed style of Hamptons beach houses, the rooms are bright and airy with white wooden ceilings, mahogany four-poster beds and concertina doors folding onto their own private balcony. Large, white tiled bathrooms have double sinks, deep soaking tubs and rainfall showers.
Many of the rooms are interconnecting to accommodate families, and all come with Elemis bath products, hair dryer, free Wi-Fi, a coffee machine, iPod docking station, safe, and air conditioning.
The villa suites are tucked away on the hillside, offering panoramic views of the bay and gardens. The suites mirror the guest rooms in design, with decor incorporating whitewashed walls, rich mahogany and sumptuous linens. The villas have air-conditioned bedrooms, en suites and a large veranda or indoor living area. Guests at the villa suites can use the semi-private pool and the villa housekeepers are on hand to assist.
For larger groups, the villas can be booked in their entirety, sleeping up to four or six people.
Location
Originally a sugarcane plantation on Lord Monson’s Round Hill Estate, Round Hill's fertile soil makes for a lush setting. The resort sits on the northwest coast of the island, close to Montego Bay. The hotel is situated only 26 minutes’ drive from the Sangster International Airport and three hours from the capital, Kingston.
Food and drink
Round Hill’s award-winning executive chef Martin Maginley showcases local Jamaican ingredients and Caribbean cuisine at the restaurant. Ingredients are grown in the onsite garden and procured from local farmers and fishermen, to offer sustainable classic dishes with a modern flair. Seafood specialities include lobster bisque and short rib of beach with sauteed pole beans. There are also a good range of vegetarian options on the daily set menu.
The Grill is a panoramic rooftop restaurant with sea views and an indoor wood-fired grill. Dishes are awarded a delicious smoked flavor from the sweet wood embers burned on the fire. Again, all produce is fresh and sourced locally as part of the taste experience.
Themed buffet dinners are served at the seaside terrace, with Caribbean curries, beach barbecues and traditional Jamaican dishes being enjoyed alongside live music.
The seaside terrace, beach and pool bars also offer a light lunch menu and refreshments. The cocktail bar provides the backdrop to watching the sunset, with soft atmospheric music.
Families
The hotel has an extensive program of children’s activities, as well as specially designed ones for all the family. Children have the option of joining in with fun games and educational activities each day. There are menus available in all restaurants specifically designed for children, and a nanny service is available for a fee.
Facilities and activities
The state-of-the-art spa is the only one in the Caribbean to use Elemis in their treatments to relax and rejuvenate guests during their stay. The spa is set away from the main resort in manicured gardens and has yoga classes on offer, as well as spa treatments and an ocean view gym.
Jamaica’s warm clear waters are ideal for water activities. Complimentary snorkels are available for spotting reef fish and corals in the shallows. The water sport building has windsurfer boards, water-skis, Hobie Cats, kayaks and scuba diving equipment available for all guests, as well as running glass-bottom boat tours.
For golf enthusiasts, the renown 18-hole Tryall Golf Club in Montego Bay is open to guests from Round Hill Villas, with complimentary transfers to and from the course. The resort also has multiple tennis courts and a tennis pro is on hand to offer lessons to both adults and children.
Environmental and social responsibility
Growing and harvesting ingredients in their onsite organic gardens, the hotel is endeavoring to reduce their carbon footprint and increase sustainability year-on-year. They commit to support the gardening projects of two local primary schools and are working with Seascape Caribbean to rehabilitate and restore coral reefs by planting coral nurseries. They also have many green initiatives at the hotel including waste water management, plastic reduction and linen re-use.
