Muntri Mews offers unique affordable boutique accommodation ideal for guests who desire to be in the heart of George Town. Within walking distance to the key heritage landmarks in the city, Muntri Street has perhaps the best preserved row of 19th Straits Chinese architecture in Penang. The grade two listed building was formerly the stables and carriage works of the street's grandest terraces. Carriages were kept below while drivers and staff were housed above in 12 workers' quarters.
Muntri Mews has been meticulously restored to its former glory and turned into a small luxury boutique hotel with only nine rooms. The rooms are of contemporary design and are rich in character and charm. The interiors are bright with comfortable and relaxing furnishings, highlighted with a gorgeous selection of local, historical and quirky paraphernalia. All rooms come with en suite bathrooms, LCD TVs, sitting areas which open to the veranda upstairs or the lush private tropical gardens downstairs. The Mews café prepares fresh local produce for a menu inspired by Asian cuisine combined with a selection of tasty international favorites. The café sits comfortably at the entrance to the mews and is popular with locals and visitors alike.
