Explore the beautiful Dades Valley, otherwise known as the 'Road of a Thousand Kasbahs'. The red hues of the stark mountain scenery contrast with the softer green of the fertile valley floor, ringed and protected by mud-brick walls and fortresses.
You may wish to stop en route to the Todra Gorge to take a closer look at some of the crumbling Kasbahs and to enjoy a walk in the shade of the palm trees through the farmed land beside the meandering river.
On to the Todra Gorge, a remarkable cleft through the mountains, where steep canyon walls, with as little as 10 m between them in places, tower above a gently bubbling stream.
Returning to the main valley road you continue on to the town of El Kelaa des Mgouna Boumalne, renowned for the cultivation of roses, then turn in to the Dades Gorge, as spectacular as the Todra Gorge.
A small auberge, Chez Pierre, is located in the Dades Gorge and is an ideal place to either stop for a drink if you are on a half day excursion or for a leisurely lunch if you are on a full day trip; the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the impressive scenery.
