Morgan's Rock consists of a Hacienda and Ecolodge. Together they have planted almost 1.5 million trees (both native hardwood and fruit) and have roughly set aside 800 hectares of primary forest under conservation. Formerly extinct animal species are being reintroduced into the private reserve and existing animal populations have been successfully protected from hunters.
The hacienda is home to one of Latin America's finest agro tourism operations providing guests with the opportunity to learn about reforestation, tree farming, sustainable agriculture and traditional farming techniques. The ecolodge's bungalows are all constructed with materials from certified reforestation or logging programs in Nicaragua and feature one king size bed, a comfortable sofa bed and a private deck with hammock. The bathrooms open into the bedrooms behind a screen.
There are only two rooms near the main building, with the remaining 13 rooms located a five- to ten-minute walk away across a swing bridge, on a cliff-top overlooking the ocean with amazing sunsets and views — so be prepared for a steep trek to the beach and restaurant. There is a beautiful beach and infinity pool, with the surrounding restaurant and bar providing fantastic fresh food and wonderful cocktails. Local beer and soft drinks are included in the price of your stay as well as all meals. The hotel loans out 'cool' boxes for you to take to the beach to keep drinks fresh, which is a lovely touch.
