Responsible Choice
Situated on a cliff overlooking the Great Fish River, the lodge has been decorated with a strong African influence. African art, carved wood, and bold patterns in simple colors abound in the public areas, which combine wonderful views and a sense of space with a homely ambiance.
Relax on the lodge's spacious viewing decks as you look out for passing wildlife heading toward the river, or take in the views from your room, where folding glass doors provide uninterrupted panoramas of the surrounding wilderness. In the evening, after a day of game viewing, enjoy delicious African dishes in a romantic, candlelit setting before ending the day with a sundowner. This is luxury safari at its best.
This stylish and luxurious lodge perfectly complements the wonderful setting, varied game and friendly, efficient staff, cementing Kwandwe as the best place to stay in the Eastern Cape.

Rooms
The suites are in individual units located along the cliff edge, with their entire front side given over to folding glass doors, affording wonderful views of the valley. The same sense of African design prevails, with thatched roofs, stone floors and dark woods. En suite bathrooms feature baths as well as indoor and outdoor showers, and each suite remains cool despite the strong African sun, featuring both overhead fans and air conditioning. Outside, a private deck furnished with comfortable seating and a plunge pool offers wonderful views that you'll never get tired of.

Facilities and activities
With good concentrations of game, the safari experiences here will be exciting and informative, with superb rangers to explain all the action to you. Take a game drive, an interpretive bush walk and a big game walking safari. You can also track rhino or participate in a rhino conservation safari, helping the experts tag rhino as part of an identification process.
In-room spa treatments are also available.
Environmental and social responsibility
Conservation efforts have been primarily focused on reclaiming farmland and placing it under wildlife conservation and replacing and re-introducing some 7,000 wild animals, including elephant, both species of rhino, hippo, lion, leopard and brown hyena.
Community efforts have involved employing people from the local communities, establishing a positive health program, funding the construction of a local primary school, donating and allocating land for local community use and providing an accredited leadership program for staff.
Alternative places to stay nearby

To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can't be bettered.
