Royal Natal National Park is found in the Northern Drakensberg and is famous for the Amphitheater, as well as the Tugela Falls that plunges over a 500 m wall of rock. There are many hiking trails in the region to explore this outstanding scenery and horse riding is possible from certain accommodation.
Giant's Castle is a popular spot to head to in the Drakensberg Mountains, and from here you can take part in various activities that demonstrate why the region has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are hikes through the spectacular mountain scenery, the chance to view 2,000-year old Bushman paintings, and renowned birdwatching and trout fishing opportunities. Getting to and from Giant's Castle will normally take you through The Midlands, allowing you the chance to stop at the various craft stalls and breweries in the area.
