Cruise Ships in The Arctic : SV Rembrandt van Rijn

SV Rembrandt van Rijn

A beautiful three mast sailing schooner that was originally a herring lugger in the early 20th century, the Rembrandt now spends most of her time in Greenlandic coastal waters. She underwent a complete refit in 2011 and accommodates just 34 passengers along with the seven crew members. Ideal for the adventurous, the crew appreciate help from passengers while sailing, so you may find yourself handling the sails or even taking the helm.

Life on board the Rembrandt is a little different to life on board any other polar expedition vessel with the workings of the ship so much more a part of your experience. With such a small number on board the experience is much more intimate and the expedition leaders are able to operate with more flexibility. Day to day life will focus entirely on making sure that you get as much out of the experience as the weather and wildlife allows.
