The ivy-covered No 1 (formally the Grange Hotel) occupies two Regency townhouses that date back to 1829. Well located just outside York’s medieval city walls, it provides a good base for exploring the city. The interior of the hotel has the feeling of a guesthouse, with furnishings such as vintage armchairs and portraits on the walls. Exuding a traditional English feel, the guest rooms are spacious and decorated in pastel shades.
No 1 has great options for dining, including the award-winning Ivy Brasserie in the hotel’s vaulted cellar, which serves classic cuisine with a French influence. Traditional afternoon tea is offered among relaxing surroundings in the Morning Room.
A quiet and well-located property that puts guests at ease with its relaxed, home-like atmosphere.
