This former hunting lodge is situated in leafy gardens and overlooks the sea. Inside, the decor is stylish and bright, with an Art Deco theme throughout. The lounge has an open fireplace, while the restaurant’s glass-paneled roof and walls capture the woodland and ocean views.
Anne and Ken, the hotel’s owners, have a particular affiliation with boating, evident in nautical elements dotted about the rooms, particularly the Chart Room, the hotel’s more relaxed dining option. This serves light lunches and early evening meals from an à la carte menu, while the main restaurant has a two AA rosette fine-dining menu. Both use fresh, local ingredients and meals can be complemented by a wide selection of wines, local gins or whiskies.
Duisdale House is a really comfortable, stylish property with excellent dining options, and we particularly love how friendly the staff are.

Rooms
The rooms are decorated in shades of muted gold, green, gray and russet, and vary in size and view. Otherwise all facilities remain the same, except in the cozy rooms, which are the smallest and don’t have a minibar. Most rooms have a shower over the bath, but there are some which have just a shower. The garden suite has two bedrooms and a separate living area, and is situated within the garden, away from the main house. All rooms have a TV and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Location
Duisdale House is on the south of the Isle of Skye, just a 15-minute drive from both the ferry port and the Skye Bridge. Surrounded by woodland, the hotel overlooks the sea and faces back toward the mainland and Loch Hourn. It takes about 50 minutes to drive to Portree, the main town on Skye.
Food and drink
The hotel has two restaurants, which use fresh, local ingredients. The main restaurant is glass fronted and looks out toward the sea. Breakfast is served here, as well as a fine dining menu in the evenings. The Chart Room is a smaller, nautical-themed room in which the hotel’s bar is located. This offers a more casual menu, serving lunch and an early evening meal from an à la carte menu.
Facilities and activities
Guests have access to an exclusive outdoor hot tub, located in the hotel’s gardens. It’s also possible to book a number of activities from the property, including a private yacht experience with Anne and Ken, the owners. Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there’s also a guest computer in the corridor.
Accessibility
There’s no lift within Duisdale House, although staff are on hand to assist with your luggage, if needed.
