Rooms

Rooms range from Deluxe, Premier and Suites, up to Club rooms and Signature suites. All rooms are spacious and modern, with Italian marble bathrooms, plush bathrobes and slippers, Wi-Fi, mini-refrigerator and a daily newspaper. The top tier rooms sit on a higher floor and offer a better view of the Charleston skyline, some also have a small balcony. Guests staying in the Club rooms or Signature suites have private access to The Club Level, an exclusive lounge which has a full bar and serves complimentary food throughout the day.

Location

The Charleston Place is situated in the historic heart of Charleston. All of the attractions are on the hotel’s doorstep which makes exploring the city on foot a pleasure. A ten-minute stroll south will bring you to Broad street with its restaurants and bars. The waterfront park lies a further five minutes to the east. It's also opposite the Charleston City Market, which offers arts and crafts and boutique clothes and food.

Food and drink

Breakfast is served in the Palmetto Café, either alfresco in the courtyard or inside in a ‘garden-style setting’ surrounded by giant windows and plants. The Palmetto Café is open for lunch and dinner, but you may want to try the Charleston Grill, one of the most highly rated restaurants in the city. The Charleston Grill offers fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, with live jazz in the evenings. Club level guests have access to a complimentary all-day food service at The Club Lounge.

Families

This hotel is child-friendly. Please note, only the suites have sofa beds.

Facilities and activities

The Charleston Place offers 24-hour room service. There is a luxury spa and modern fitness facility on site and direct access to a small, upmarket shopping mall from the lobby. The rooftop saltwater pool is heated and features a retractable glass roof.

The hotel is fully wheelchair accessible.

Environmental and social responsibility

The Charleston Place runs two social programs in support of the local community. One provides hot meals to a local homeless shelters, in partnership with several other Charleston restaurants. The other is a program designed to teach high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds the skills necessary for getting a job in the hospitality and catering industries.

Local excursions

Charleston Tea Plantation — the only one in North America — is roughly a 30-minute drive from downtown Charleston. Check out Angel Oak on the drive back, estimated to be a 1,500 year old, giant oak tree, is signposted from the main road.

A horse-drawn carriage tour is also well worth doing in Charleston, and costs roughly $20 per person.

Diving

There are two entrances for guest drop off, parking and valet. Heading south on Meeting Street, one parking entranceway is located on the right just before Market Street. The parking area can also be accessed from Hasell Street, heading south on Meeting Street, turn right onto Hasell Street and within that block, the entranceway to parking will be on your left.
