Zhaoxing is famed for its incredible array of five drum towers, one for each of the communities that constitute the largest Dong minority inhabitation in China.
The 4,000 inhabitants hold numerous inter-community contests, vying for the pride of place within the village. The inaccessibility of the town make tourists a relative rarity here, though there are a number of guesthouses and the odd souvenir shop to cater for the odd French tour group who stop by.
The town itself is pleasant, if not quite as picturesque as Chengyang.
