Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort

With an enviable location on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River, the Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort has 76 guest rooms set in extensive gardens. The bungalow-style rooms have either garden or river views and have the usual amenities to make for a comfortable stay. The eight river-facing suites offer some of the most tasteful accommodation in Bagan. Each open onto a wide veranda from which to view dramatic sunsets and comprise a separate living area to the bedroom (some have four-poster beds) and well-appointed bathrooms that include a large terrazzo bathtub. The suites are located away from the main reception and restaurant to ensure privacy and quiet.

The restaurant benefits from a large terrace looking out to the pool and river beyond, where guests can enjoy alfresco meals throughout the day. The various menus, offering a range of local, Asian and Western fare, take advantage of vegetables and herbs grown in the resort's own garden. The Pavilion Lounge is a perfect spot for enjoying a sundowner. There is a large swimming pool and highly-regarded spa.
