From imposing teak mansions built in the colonial style, to stilted chalets above water, we look at the appeal of staying in a character property in Myanmar.

Book early

Although accommodation options in Myanmar are limited there is still a range available in most key locations, with simple facilities and functional rooms. However, if you want to stay in a character property then it's important to book at least nine to twelve months in advance of travel as those properties are extremely popular.

If you are traveling off the beaten track, accommodations are restricted to locally run guesthouses and hotels.

To go or not to go

There have always been conflicting views about whether tour operators should offer travel to Myanmar because of the political controversy surrounding the country under its current government.

We actively try to use hotels and services that have no connection with the government, including our local partner in Myanmar, a family-run business employing over 200 staff.
