Located in the heart of Toronto's entertainment district, Le Germain Hotel Toronto Mercer 鈥� part of a Canadian chain whose owners are Qu茅b茅cois 鈥� is a boutique property offering a fashionable and comfortable base from which to explore the city.

Boasting contemporary architecture, Le Germain Hotel Toronto Mercer has a large two-level lobby and an open-air concept. There are over 120 modern rooms, as well as a restaurant, bar and gym. It doesn鈥檛 have the most prepossessing of exteriors, but inside you quickly become aware that you鈥檙e in a fiercely modern, elegant hotel that鈥檚 even better situated than it first seems.

This is one stylish property: style and design emanate from the snug, open library to the rooms, each featuring pieces by local artists. Its location is also enviable, slotted down a quiet side street in Toronto鈥檚 central entertainment district.

Rooms

Rooms are very dark with masculine decor (dark wood and leather chairs) and unusual modern art pieces and sculpture on the walls. Bathrooms are small but very minimalist and sleek with Molton Brown toiletries and rainfall showers. Rooms go from Classic to Signature and Prestige rooms, and there are several suites. All rooms have a safe, minibar, desk, Bose stereo with CD player, and a Nespresso coffee machine.

Location

Tucked away on a quiet side street, it鈥檚 easy to forget that you鈥檙e staying in the heart of the city鈥檚 entertainment district, within walking distance of performance venues as well as the CN Tower and the waterfront. There is often construction in the vicinity of the hotel, however, the street receives little through-traffic.

Food and drink

A continental breakfast is included with every stay, and there鈥檚 an in-house restaurant, bar and caf茅 called Victor. It serves hearty North American classics as well as more exotic offerings. It鈥檚 possible to enjoy evening cocktails and other drinks on the roof terrace.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a pleasant roof terrace which offers a small amount of outside space in which to relax and admire close-up views of the CN Tower. Next door, there鈥檚 a small gym and 鈥� for something even more novel 鈥� a putting green. Just off the lobby is an inviting library with slouchy chairs you can relax in with a coffee.
