Le Vieux Logis

Dordogne, France

Set in a former priory which later became a tobacco farm, Le Vieux Logis is a bucolic boutique hotel. This secluded Relais & Chateaux property is located in the quiet village of Trémolat, an hour’s drive west of Sarlat-la-Canéda. The 25 rooms and suites are set across three 17th-century stone buildings in extensive parklands, meticulously maintained in the style of the Marqueyssac gardens close by.

The grounds also have a large swimming pool, while the Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant is set in the former tobacco drying house and offers indoor and outdoor seating on the terrace under the lime trees, where guests can also sit and enjoy their breakfast.

Rooms are traditional in style with terracotta tiles, antique furniture and local linens in an array of pastel tones and classic patterns. All rooms are fully equipped with Wi-Fi and air conditioning and many offer views of the parklands or Monet-inspired water garden.

OUR OPINION:

An elegant country retreat in the heart of the Dordogne, Le Vieux Logis is ideal for those looking for a quiet setting, gastronomic restaurant, and a taste of French village life.

Rooms

The 25 rooms and suites are spread across three buildings but all are classic in style with nods to regional heritage. Terracotta-tiled floors offer a rustic appeal in the style of a high-end farmhouse, while period furniture and contemporary fabrics combine to create an intimate but individual character. Rooms are filled with natural light and overlook the village, parklands or flower-filled gardens. Modern amenities such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning come as standard.

Location

The quiet town of Trémolat is located between ³§²¹¾±²Ô³Ù-ɳ¾¾±±ô¾±´Ç²Ô and ³§²¹°ù±ô²¹³Ù-±ô²¹-°ä²¹²Ôé»å²¹ making this a convenient location to explore both areas by car. The nearest train station is about a 40-minute drive through the Dordogne countryside. The village of Trémolat itself is very small and Le Vieux Logis is only a very short walk away from the central square.

Food and drink

The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant serves refined traditional French cuisine typical of the Périgord region. Guests can dine indoors or on the outdoor terrace. The hotel also owns two establishments in the village square only a five-minute walk away. Bistrot de la Place serves a range of affordable dishes and has seating outdoors on the square. Les Tartines Etc serves tartines (bread with sweet or savory toppings), sandwiches and sharing plates.

Facilities and activities

Le Vieux Logis boasts a large outdoor swimming pool in its grounds and a selection of massages can be arranged in your room.
