Rooms

The hotel has modern rooms with sleek design that are well sized for Kyoto — almost as notorious as Tokyo for its lack of space! Rooms range from their standard double all the way to deluxe rooms and luxury suites. Some upper rooms at Kanra have two floors and terraces. A unique feature of the Kanra is that all rooms have a cypress wood bath, seamlessly blending the modern with the traditional and allowing you the opportunity to relax and unwind in your room after a long day of sightseeing.

Location

The Kanra's central location is ideal for sightseeing around the city. Next to the hotel you can find the Higashihongan-ji Temple, the Shosei-en Garden and the geisha district of Gion. The Kanra is also within walking distance of the Kyoto Station, a great jumping off point for temples around Kyoto or other sightseeing districts.

Food and drink

Dining in the hotel is based around fresh, local ingredients, with a focus on vegetables in particular, some of which are grown on the rooftop garden. The chefs take pride in preserving the traditions of Kyoto and preparing local food with simple traditional techniques. The restaurant at the Kanra serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as opening as a café during the afternoon.
