Kati Kati, literally meaning ‘center’ in Swahili, is located in the fantastic central Seronera region of the Serengeti. The mobile camp itself consists of just ten en suite guest tents, allowing for a relaxed and intimate atmosphere that’s complemented by the charming nature of the staff.
Staying here allows you to immerse yourself in an authentic bush experience, and each night you can enjoy snacks and beers around the campfire, sharing stories of the day’s safari adventures with your fellow guests. When not out on safari or enjoying an excursion out in the bush, you can relax in the lounge tent or the library, or simply sit out on your private veranda while looking out for passing wildlife.
If you’re looking for a truly authentic safari experience, sleeping under canvas in the Serengeti, we believe Kati Kati is a fantastic choice. The camp’s rustic charm and understated atmosphere allow you to really appreciate the magic of falling asleep listening to the sounds of the bush.

Rooms
The tents at Kati Kati, while reasonably simple, are spacious and comfortable, allowing you to enjoy the experience of sleeping under canvas in the heart of the Serengeti. The tents and furnishings are khaki colored in order to blend in with the natural surroundings, with plastic windows allowing plenty of natural light while keeping mosquitos at bay. Each tent comes complete with either one king sized bed or two twin beds. Each tent also has its own en suite bathroom with flush toilet, hand basin and safari shower to the back, as well as a small shaded veranda at the front. Lighting is solar powered.
Location
Well located within the Seronera region of the Serengeti, Kati Kati is an excellent central base from which to explore more of the park. Game remains consistently good throughout the year here and the area presents particularly good opportunities for spotting lion and leopard. Surrounded by open grasslands, the camp has a real wilderness feel that will appeal to those who want a secluded bush location.
Food and drink
Food is served under canvas in the central mess tent and is eaten communally. Despite being located in the middle of the Serengeti, Kati Kati’s chefs provide wholesome and hearty meals with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, much of which has been sourced from the gardens of the camp’s sister properties in the nearby Ngorongoro Highlands. Before dinner, guests can gather around the campfire for appetizers and snacks.
Facilities and activities
From Kati Kati you can enjoy game drives with your private safari guide to explore the Serengeti and its incredible wildlife. You may also be able to visit a Maasai village to learn all about the culture and way of life in the Serengeti. Bush breakfasts and sundowners can be arranged in private areas of the park for an intimate dining experience.
