Pioneer Camp is a secluded hideaway offering private chalets and camping facilities surrounded by miombo woodland. Only a few miles and around half an hour's drive from the airport, it is in a good location for those travelling back home or onto their safari. Well away from the bustle of central Lusaka, the laid back atmosphere and relaxed, safari style dining makes it a little city haven.
At the heart of the camp is a spacious, open thatched restaurant and bar ('chitenge'), where you can sit and share your African adventure stories with fellow travellers. Pioneer is renowned for their candlelit braais (barbecues), where you can indulge in a delicious 500g T-bone steak under the African stars. There is also a swimming pool and a library with various books on Zambia and its wildlife. Only a short stroll from the main camp are nine individually thatched safari chalets with en suite facilities and their own veranda, where you can relax and observe the Zambian birdlife and scenery. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, with everything you need.
