Eaton

Hong Kong, China

The Eaton's design is modern, clean and practical, with its heritage reflected in contemporary Chinese artwork and photographs. You can escape the bustling city in the property's T Garden, where planted walls and bamboo create a peaceful oasis.

There are plenty of dining options in the three on-site restaurants, while leisurely drinks and snacks can be purchased from the T Bar in the T Garden. After exploring the city's vibrant markets, which are right on your doorstep, relax in the hotel's rooftop pool and enjoy sweeping views over Kowloon.

OUR OPINION:

A comfortable, modern hotel to use as a base for exploring Hong Kong. While it's around a 20-minute walk from Victoria Harbour (or a couple of stops on the MTR), we think its excellent value and close proximity to some of the city's best markets make it a great choice.

Rooms

The hotel offers seven room types, all with an 'East-meets-West' design. The decor concentrates on clean lines and minimal design to make the best use of space.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, a complimentary smartphone for use during your stay, and flat-screen TVs.

The Deluxe and Studio rooms are the entry-level options — both can accommodate two people and combine comfort and value in a compact yet well-formed space. The Executive rooms offer the same modern decor, but with more space and excellent views of Kowloon through floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Triple rooms are good for small families or groups of friends, while the Family rooms comprise two adjoining rooms, accommodating between four and five guests.

Club rooms provide enough space for up to three guests, while the Club Suites feature a living room and separate bedroom. Both offer access to the exclusive E Club Lounge, which features comfortable seating and a library. Breakfast is served here for club members, as well as all-day tea, coffee and snacks and cocktails and canapés in the evening.

Location

The Eaton sits on the Tsuen Wan Line and is a five-minute walk from Jordan MTR Station. From here you can also venture to the nearby Temple Street, known for its lively market and great food stands. For shopping addicts, the Eaton hotel sits on Nathan Road — also known as the Golden Mile, this is where you can explore Hong Kong’s wide range of retail outlets, from backstreet bargains to luxury brands.

Food and drink

A set breakfast is served for guests in the Main Street Cafe opposite the hotel on Nathan Road, however, you can request a buffet option if you wish to have a wider choice.

Restaurants on site include the Michelin-starred Yat Tung Heen Chinese restaurant, the Yagura Japanese restaurant and Metro Buffet and Grill, which serves a variety of dishes in a buffet style all day, as well as set menu options for lunch and dinner.

The T Bar and T Garden offers bar snacks, sharing platters and cocktails in a relaxed alfresco setting. In-room dining is also available.

Families

The triple room sleeps three, while Family rooms can sleep up to five, with a double room connecting to a children’s room featuring a bunk bed and a sofa bed. The decor is cheerful and fun and a welcome gift is included for children upon arrival. This, alongside a child-minding service available upon request, makes it a pleasant place to stay for families.

Facilities and activities

The hotel features a rooftop pool and a 24-hour gym. Daily t'ai chi classes are offered each morning, and each guest can join a complimentary tour of both Jade Market and Temple Street Market. Each room comes with a free smartphone for guests to use during their stay, featuring unlimited 3G mobile data and free local calls (plus free international calls to certain countries, including the UK and USA).
