Raffles Hotel Le Royal is one of the finest hotels in Cambodia, and is evocative of a bygone era. Built in 1929, this colonial landmark has had an interesting past and clientele, from well-known journalists reporting on Cambodia's raging civil war to distinguished royalty, as well starring briefly in the film, The Killing Fields.
The hotel's original wing is accompanied by a more recent addition, which accommodates tastefully appointed guest rooms and suites set around manicured gardens and attractive swimming pools. There's also a spa, sauna and steam room, allowing guests to truly relax. In the evening guests can dine on Cambodian and French cuisine in the elegant on site restaurant, while the famous Elephant Bar is the perfect setting for an apéritif and a chance to soak up the colonial charm.

Rooms
There are eight room and suite categories. State and Landmark rooms are similar in size and offer the same amenities, including balconies, TVs, air conditioning and safes. Landmark rooms are located in the main building for added convenience, while State rooms overlook the swimming pool or tropical gardens. All are tastefully decorated, combining traditional Khmer and Art Deco themes.
Suites vary in size and design. Balcony Suites are set in the corners of the hotel and are a similar size to Colonial Suites, both offering vintage furnishings and balconies. Executive Suites are more spacious, featuring a living room and kitchenette, while Landmark Suites are larger still and individually named to honor Cambodia's history. The 228 square meter Le Royal Suite is the hotel's largest option, featuring two bedrooms, a dining room, lounge and pantry. There are also several Personality Suites, each of which contains memorabilia related to well-known past guests.
Location
Centrally located and in close proximity to Wat Phnom and Cambodia’s railway station, Raffles Hotel Le Royal is a timeless fixture in Phnom Penh. The Royal Palace and central market are also just a short drive away, and the hotel is ideally located for visiting many of the city's other major sites.
Food and drink
Restaurant Le Royal is the main eatery and specializes in traditional Khmer and modern French cuisine. It's open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as hosting a special weekend brunch on Saturdays with the added draw of free flow champagne and cocktails. The hotel also has Café Monivong, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Poolside Terrace provides snacks and drinks throughout the day. In addition, the hotel’s famed Elephant Bar is a relaxing place to enjoy signature cocktails and live piano music.
Families
The hotel has a 'Fun Pool' for families with young children, as well as a 'Mini Cinema' with a wide selection of children's films provided, located in the Café Monivong Kids Room.
